Motivation and Emotion Project with Ms. Nicdao
INSTRUCTIONS
- Record yourself and make a series of short videos (see list below)
- You will take all these mini videos and edit it to 1 final video
- The video requirements are outlined below
- Please make sure we can hear you (provide subtitles if needed) and that you are not shaking the camera too much
- Be clear and articulate. Stick to the time rules and do not go over too much. Meaningful brevity! Show only the most important points and be selective of how you present anything.
- Show your knowledge and HAVE FUN doing it!
VIDEO 1: Baseline (1-5 min)
How are you right now? How do you feel?
VIDEO 2: Before Working out (1-5 min)
- How do you feel you will do with this Spartacus workout? What is your self=efficacy?
VIDEO 3: After the Work out (1-5 min)
- How do you feel after the work out? Did you do better than you think or worse?
- Did your self-efficacy increase?
VIDEO 4: Homeostasis, Primary and Secondary Drives (end of day) (1-5 min)
- Did you achieve homeostasis today? Why or why not?
- How did you fulfill your primary drives today (hunger and thirst only!)?
- How did you fulfill your secondary drives today?
- How did you demonstrate instinct, Yerkes-Dodosn law, arousal and opponent process theory today?
VIDEO 5: Maslow (end of day) (1-2 min only)
- How did you fulfill your hierarchy of needs today?
- Give a video showing each level
For example: Eating somewhere, drinking water, where you sleep, feature of your family and closest friends, books or things you read to help with understanding self-esteem needs.
Video 6: Extrinsic Motivations and Murray's Specific need types (1-2 min only)
- Make a video showcasing all your extrinsic motivations and the specific need types (i.e. need for affiliation)
Video 7: Social Theory Motivation - Conflict (1-2 min only)
- Show a video of you using Kurt Lewin's 4 types of Conflict (p. 208-209)
Video 8: Theories of Emotion (1-2 min only)
- Demonstrate James-Lange Theory of emotion with yourself as an example
- Demonstrate Cannon=Bard Theory of emotion with yourself as an example
- Demonstrate your knowledge of Type A and Type B personalities
Video 9: Watch the Six Videos below. What are 1-3 things from each video that stood out to you from watching these videos? What did you learn about motivation? Give an example for each point.
Video 10: Give a motivation pep talk to someone from PMA. What would you say to them? You can edit different movies or clips if you want like the "FOCUS" video and do a voice over. (no more than 2 min).
