Objective
Project Plan. This is what you will be producing and turning in:
Journals: submitted each day during class.
Reflection Paper: Uploaded on Google Classroom. Due on January 28, 2016
Presentation: Uploaded on Google Classroom, to be presented in class on January 28, 2016

- To be able to understand the concepts of learning as applied to relevant situations in education.
- To be able to use the concepts of classical conditioning, operant conditioning, biological factors, social learning, and cognitive processes in learning and apply them in helping remediate freshmen in academic probation.
- To be an academic mentor to students who have had problems with keeping up with homework, assignments and studying for tests.
- AP Psychology students will mentor two (2) students from the Freshman class and mentor them.
- The students will first meet on Thursday, January 14 at Think Tank.
- Mentors will meet with Mentee and review the Intake Questions with their mentees.
- Students will review their mentees and see what their motivations are and how they learn best. After January 14, you will see your Mentee once each day (spend 15 minutes with them or have a combined time of 15 minutes in interactions and provide a journal report at every class.
Project Plan. This is what you will be producing and turning in:
- Journals: During classes you will write a journal regarding your interactions with your mentees. Include pictures of your meetings.
a) What did you discuss during your meeting or interaction with your mentee?
b) What method of learning did you implement in your meeting?
c) What are some obstacles in learning this person may have? - Reflection Paper: Write an APA style paper reflecting on the following:
a) Describe your two learners (use pseudonyms). What motivates them? How do they learn best? Give a case analysis of these learners. What habits and thoughts lead to them on Academic probation? What is the level of education of their parents? siblings?
b) Give an analysis of your outcomes using nonassociative learning.
c) Give an analysis of your outcomes using classical conditioning.
d) Give an analysis of your outcomes using operant conditioning.
e) Give an analysis of your outcomes using social learning.
f) Give an analysis of your outcomes using cognitive processes in learning. - Presentation: Present your paper to the class.
Present your paper in slides corresponding to the letters outlining your reflection paper (recommended 1 slide per letter).
- Include pictures of your mentees
- Include methods of how you used these methods (e.g. rubber bands on wrist, candy as reward, high fives, etc. or whatever you use to modify behavior.
